Sigma DP1

March 9th, 2007

Sigma has announced a new compact camera, the DP1, about half a year ago on Photokina, but now it looks like this camera with foveon sensor has become reality. Sigma says it offers a stunning resolution of 14 megapixel, but the effective resolution is about 4,3 megapixel. Although the pixel to pixel sharpness and quality is very good with Foveon sensors, so upsizing the image is perfectly possible.

After quite some time of silence Sony shows us some mockups/prototypes of their 2 new models. A flagship and prosumer SLR are on display at this moment on the PMA. I find them totally hideous, but who cares about design right.

The KM 7D successor

Some of the rumours say that the flagship SLR will be a full frame camera, but I do doubt that. If they also want to incorporate the steady shot system and use most of the existing lenses they will likely not create an full frame camera… But, time will tell.
